Near to Gythio, Mani, in a distance of 5 km on the beach of Selinitsa is found the
shipwreck Dimitrios.
The story says that is was one of the many boats that made smuggling cigarettes from
Turkey to Italy.
It fell in a storm and was abandoned at the beach of Peloponnese.
When I read a title and not see yet the picture, I thought it must be about Zakhyntos:)
ReplyDeleteThe wreck looks a bit scary
my heart is glad I no longer live on a metal boat!

Sonja
The rusty colors against that blue sea, wonderful, but also a strangness about itn love it! xx
ReplyDeleteWow! I had never seen one like this floating. Love the rust all over. Great picture.

Das sieht wirklich sehr geschichtsträchtig aus. Bestimmt etwas unheimlich in der Abenddämmerung.
ReplyDeleteLG Sabine

ReplyDeleteA hug!!
Fantastic shot Monika. Wonderful view
ReplyDeleteThe risk of smuggling as every boat like this tells a story. I am left wondering how long it has been sat there as it looks like a long time. Great shot considering the difficult clashes of lighting.

Well it sure is a colourful wreck ! Looks like it's been there for a while too.
ReplyDeleteLoved your summer fun shots - beautiful beaches and waters ! And your Olympia shots remind me once more of our wonderful trip to Rhodes exactly one year ago - one of our best trips ever !
