Youth and age

Are not the joys of morning sweeter
     Than the joys of night,
And are the vig’rous joys of youth
     Ashamed of the light?

Let age and sickness silent rob
     The vineyards in the night
But those who burn with vig’rous youth
     Pluck fruits before the light.

      ( William Blake  1757 - 1827)

  2. Ich denke mal es ist gleich, Jugend und Alter, wir müssen nur verstehen beides zu verbinden...

  6. Your photographs are great, Monika. The boy is angelic and the tree is sublime. I think a person could climb up into it and disappear.

Although William Blake was a multi-talented artist and craftsman, I have a tendency to think of him as a poet and sort of a mystic. In this sense, he is among my favorite Romantic writers. You have selected a lovely verse.

  9. I forgot that poem. How lovely to read it again with your photographs. Cherub is that face, so smooth in youth, and strength is in that tree gnarled with age--oh that's me!

  21. Hallo,

ein wunderbarer Kontrast in der Bilderfolge zwischen dem Jungen und dem sehr schönen charakteristisch von der Zeit geformten Baum ... beides sehr interessante Motive.

    Viele Grüße von Senna
