Untitled..

Beethoven 5th Piano Concerto "Emperor" 2nd Mvmt.

Gould plays Beethoven Emperor Concerto

The second movement. Adagio.

The Piano Concerto Nr. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 by Ludwig van Beethoven popularly known as
"Emperor Concerto" was his last piano concerto. It was written between 1809 and 1811 in Vienna
and was dedicated to the Archduke Rudolf, Beethoven's patron and pupil. The first performance
took place in November 1811 at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.

Glenn Gould the pianist was born in 1932 and died in 1982 in Toronto. He died at the age of 50...
Gould was also known as a writer, composer, conductor and broadcaster. He was particularly
renowned as an interpreter of the keyboard music of Johann Sebastian Bach. His playing was
distinguished by a remarkable technical proficiency and a capacity to articulate the polyphonic
texture of Bach's music...

Frangokastello village.
It took its name after the Venetian castle, built there in 1371.
In 1828 a battle for independence was fought against the Turks at Frangokastello.
Hundreds of Sfakiots led by Hadzi Michali Daliani, a Greek revolutionary, attempted to
spread the war of independence from the mainland to Crete.
Instead of hiding in the mountains, as most rebels did in this area,
he stayed in the castle with his soldiers.
Unfortunately, they were massacred and their martyrdom became legendary.

Playing with mud must be the greatest feeling in a child's world.
