Smell the autumn

Tenderly, he looked into the rushing water, into the transparent green,
into the crystal lines of its drawing, so rich in secrets. Bright
pearls he saw rising from the deep, quiet bubbles of air floating on
the reflecting surface, the blue of the sky being depicted in it. With
a thousand eyes, the river looked at him, with green ones, with white
ones, with crystal ones, with sky-blue ones. How did he love this
water, how did it delight him, how grateful was he to it! In his heart
he heard the voice talking, which was newly awaking, and it told him:
Love this water! Stay near it! Learn from it! Oh yes, he wanted to
learn from it, he wanted to listen to it. He who would understand this
water and its secrets, so it seemed to him, would also understand many
other things, many secrets, all secrets.

(By Hermann Hesse's Novel "Siddharta")

  3. Brilliant, the waters, and a leaf. Hermann Hesse's Novel "Siddharta" is my favourite, truly.

  5. The first photo makes me think of Monet's water lilies, both very beautiful, the twinkling of the light, 'Siddharta' brings back memories, x

  6. Monika, this is the water colors in your photographs. That is amazing how you achieved this beautiful effect. This is what awakes my imagination and touches my soul.

Beautiful photographs, my dear talented artist.

  15. You keep reminding me of writers I have not encountered since my college days, Monika. My favorite work by Hermann Hesse is "Narcissus and Goldmund." Some, probably most, think of it as a study of two men. I prefer to think of it as the struggle of the left hand and the right hand within one man.

It is autumn here. At least, summer and autumn are battling it out. The temperature has fallen to between two and three degrees a few nights.

The water is magical, and the leaf is the solitary traveler upon it. Your photography is fascinating here.

  25. Beautiful series Monika! Very painterly. The reflection of sunlight on the water is so delicate accentuated by the leaf floating on the surface. And the Hermanne Hesse quote is perfect. :D
